Health Recipe – PLANTAIN FLOWER MASALA UTTAPPAM

INGREDIENTS:
Plantain flower – 2
Onions – 6
Rock salt – to taste
Turmeric powder- 1 tsp
ROAST:
Red chillies – 5
Dhaniya seeds – 2 tbsp
TO GRIND WITH THIS:
Garlic cloves – 6
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Kokam juice – to taste
SEASONING:
Cooking oil – 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Broken urad dal – 1 tsp
Curry leaves – little
METHOD: Remove the inner nerve part in the middle of plantain flower. Finely chop the flowers and onions and steam them for 10 minutes. Roast red chillies and dhaniya seeds. When it cools grind along with other ingredients adding little water. In a pan season the items and put the steamed flowers and onions, ground paste and boil until it get the consistency of stuffing. Now prepare uthappam from any dough ground using any form of small millet, red rice and stuff this plantain flower masala and serve hot with coconut chutney.
BENEFITS: Plantain flower is rich in astringent, due to this quality many avoid consuming it. But served tastily this will relish with pleasure. Plantain flower is rich in iron and dietary fiber. Strengthens the uterus. Serve young girls at least once a weak. This helps them greatly in future while yielding child. Consuming plantain flower weakly once relieves menstrual pain, boosts estrogen and controls over bleeding. Ladies nearing menopause consume twice a week as it helps in contraction of uterus. It also helps in curing white discharge, body heat, cough and burning sensation in hands and legs. Controls over urination, over excretion of sugar through urine and dysentery. Also prevents from infections. Cures bleeding piles. Boon to those suffering from vatta, pitta, anemia and intestinal worms.
